Devin Wallace
Battery Instructor
A Copiah Native and graduate of Wesson Attendance Center, Devin Wallace is in his fourth year serving as Drumline Instructor for the Brookhaven High School band program. He is also a science teacher at Brookhaven High, where he strives to build meaningful relationships with students and create a supportive environment where they feel valued, encouraged, and confident to grow.
Mr. Wallace is a graduate of Copiah-Lincoln Community College, where he earned his associate degree. During his time there, he served for multiple surrounding high schools as a drum technician, working with students during his free time to learn music and gain valuable instructional experience. He later attended Mississippi State University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree (Hail State). His educational background, combined with his passion for teaching and music, allows him to connect with students both in and out of the classroom.
In addition to teaching, Mr. Wallace also serves as Coach Wallace for the Brookhaven High School Ole Brook Tennis program and is proud to be part of a defending 5A State Championship team. His involvement across academics, athletics, and the arts reflects his belief in investing in students as individuals and supporting their growth beyond a single activity.
As Drumline Instructor, Mr. Wallace primarily focuses on the “Battery” (Drumline) during marching season, where he emphasizes discipline, fundamentals, teamwork, and pride in performance. While marching band is his main focus, he continues to assist the band program during concert season, pep band, parades, and whatever else the band gets themselves into whenever his tennis coaching schedule allows it. He is committed to fostering a drumline culture built on discipline, respect, accountability, and encouragement.
Mr. Wallace is grateful to be part of the band program and takes pride in contributing to its continued growth, success, and positive impact on students’ lives. Mr. Wallace’s duties with the Ole Brook Bands include leading all drumline rehearsals, writing cadences, grooves, and technique exercises for the battery students, assisting with percussion and spring ensembles as needed, and more.
